Delhi: With the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, political parties are taking to social media to turn tables in their favour.
Following the BJP’s series of ad films that jibe at its opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc, the Indian National Congress too has joined the same route.
The INC has released bite-sized ads that each attack the alleged failures of the ruling party.
The first ad hosts a press conference under the guise of a laundry detergent ad, with Tide’s (P&G) poster carrying the image of Prime Minister Modi.
INC spokesperson, Pawan Khera, made his colleague drop a white t-shirt, emblazoned with words like 'scam,' 'extortion,' and 'fraud,' inside a washing machine dubbed the "BJP Washing Machine." As the garment emerged, the once-black inscriptions now spelled out 'BJP Modi Wash.’.
A subsequent scene in the video revealed a poster reminiscent of Tide's branding, featuring the Prime Minister's visage alongside the words 'Modi Washing Powder' in Hindi.
In another advertisement, a distressed woman watched as a vegetable vendor weighed onions, bemoaning the financial strain caused by inflation with a cry of, "How do I run my home?"
A poignant moment unfolded in yet another ad, portraying a formally attired young engineer leaving for work, only to discreetly remove his tie before returning home to drive a rickshaw due to unemployment. This narrative challenged the efficacy of initiatives like Make in India and Startup India.
The ads also tackled issues like paper leaks, symbolising the darkness cast upon students' futures.
Throughout these narratives, the catchphrase, 'Haath Badlega Halaat' (the hand will change the circumstances), underscored the INC's symbol and its pledge for change.
