On Monday, March 11, the Bombay High Court will review the lawsuit filed by Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd (KKCL), the manufacturer of Killer Jeans, against Netflix for alleged trademark infringement.
According to reports, this is in relation to the use of the term "Killer" in the title and promotional material for 'Killer Soup', featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkana Sen Sharma.
Earlier in January, the apparel company appealed to the Bombay High Court (HC), asserting that Netflix violated its trademark 'Killer'. The company is seeking damages amounting to Rs 25 crore.
The company has requested an injunction against the usage of the word 'Killer', the removal of any content that breaches the trademark, and the appointment of a court receiver to confiscate and eliminate any infringing materials.
The news reports stated that the lawyers representing KKCL sent notices to Netflix and the series producer, Macguffin Pictures on January 10, requesting the removal of the word "Killer" from both the title and promotional materials of the series.
