YouTube deletes over thousand deep fake ad videos featuring celebrities

Google, YouTube's parent company, has taken down over 1,000 deceptive advertisement videos utilising deepfake technology.

These videos featured fake endorsements from celebrities like Taylor Swift, Steve Harvey, and Joe Rogan. The videos used artificial intelligence to showcase celebrities endorsing Medicare scams.

Following an investigation by 404 Media, the videos were promptly removed, exposing the deceptive advertising network behind their creation.

The videos had already collectively gained 200 million views, according to the 404 Media investigation, and there are likely still many more that have not been deleted yet.
