Ready for death penalty: Baba Ramdev on SC admonition on Patanjali's misleading ads

Addressing a press conference after the Supreme Court asked Patanjali to stop rolling out misleading advertisements and warned of a fine imposition for Rs 1 crore a product for each false claim of curing a disease, Baba Ramdev has staunchly defended his company and stated that the FMCG major has not been doing any false propaganda.

“Since yesterday, on different media sites, one news story has gone viral that the Supreme Court (SC) reprimanded Patanjali. SC said that if you do false propaganda, then you will be fined... We respect SC. But we are not doing any false propaganda," he said.

Further, he also went on to add that it is not Patanjali but certain doctor associations which have been doing false propaganda against yoga, ayurveda and even naturopathy as there is no solution for asthma, diabetes, arthritis, etc. in the synthetic medicine world.

However, there is ‘integrated and evidence-based treatment’ in yoga and Ayurveda which has the ability to cure such diseases, he pointed out.

With this, he also asserted that if he and his company are liars, then he is ready to face a fine of as much as Rs 1000 crore or even the death penalty.

But, if not found lying, he urged that the court must punish the ones who are really spreading the false propaganda against him and Patanjali for the past five years now.
