'Boycott' list by Opposition risks journalists' lives: BEA

The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) on Tuesday condemned the unilateral decision of the Opposition bloc INDIA to boycott 14 journalists and anchors belonging to renowned news organisations.

After a general body meeting held at India Today Mediaplex in Noida, BEA said that the opposition alliance not only risked the lives of reporters and anchors but also demonstrated intolerance towards individuals by singling them out.

The BEA pleaded before the opposition alliance to reconsider the decision to boycott 14 anchors.

"We demand the immediate withdrawal of this list in keeping with well-established democratic principles," the resolution passed by BEA said.

The members who attended the 'emergency' meeting were: Supriya Prasad, Rahul Kanwal, Navika Kumar, Sanjeev Paliwal, Amitabh, Rajneesh Ahuja, Aishwarya Kapur, Abhishek Kapur, Deepak Chaurasiya, Sukesh Ranjan, Sumit Awasthi, Rubika Liyaquat, Amish Devgan, Anil Singh, Sant Prasad Rai, Sanjay Bragta, Sudhir Chaudhary, Gaurav Sawant, Snehanshu Shekhar.
