Asian Paints Co-founder Ashwin Dani dies at 79

Indian billionaire tycoon and co-founder of Asian Paints Ashwin Dani passed away on Thursday.

Confirming the news, the company in a regulatory filing mentioned, “With deep regret, we inform you that Ashwin Dani, Non- Executive Director of the Company, left for heavenly abode today, on account of brief illness. Ashwin Dani will always be remembered for his significant contributions to the Company”

He had joined the company founded by his father and three others in 1942, Asian Paints in 1968.

Between December 1998 and March 2009, Dani served the role of Vice-Chairman and Managing Director at the paint company.

Later on, from 2018 to 2021, he also held the position of Chairman of the Board and the Company.

Born in Mumbai, Dani pursued a Bachelor of Science from the Institute of Science, University of Mumbai. Later, he earned a Master’s in Polymer Science from the University of Akron, Ohio followed by the completion of a diploma in Colour Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic in Troy, New York.

Before joining Asian Paints, Dani even worked with Inmont Corp in Detroit, US, as a Development Chemist.
