MIB registers 4 new MSOs in July 2023

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has released the list of registered Multiple System Operators (MSOs) up to July 31, 2023. As per the list, four new MSOs were registered in the month of July this year.

These newly registered MSOs are Admire Network, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Keranad Digi World from Kerala, Karnal Siti Broadband Cable Network from Haryana and Skyline Networks from Tamil Nadu.

Admire Network's registration remains valid until July 11, 2033, while Keranad Digi World, Karnal Siti Broadband Cable Network and Skyline Networks have registrations valid until July 27, 2023.

All four newly registered MSOs have been classified as 'Compliant' within the official list.

Recently, in a move to ensure strict adherence to broadcasting regulations, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) issued a directive to 592 "Non-Compliant" Multi-System Operators (MSOs) to get their status changed to “Compliant” by August 15, 2023. According to the Ministry, these MSOs had failed to meet key regulatory criteria, prompting the MIB to take action.

The MSOs were marked as "Non-Compliant" because they had failed to comply with regulation 15(1) of the Interconnection Regulation, 2017, issued by TRAI. This regulation mandates that every distributor of television channels, once in a calendar year, must conduct an audit of its SMS, CAS, and other related systems by an auditor to verify that the monthly reports made available by the distributor to the broadcasters are complete, true, and correct.
