MIB reminds private TV channels to adhere to public service broadcasting mandate

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has reminded the private satellite TV channels via an advisory to adhere to the public service broadcasting mandate and submit the monthly reports not beyond the seventh day of the following month. 

MIB said, “All the private satellite TV Channels permitted by the ministry are again advised to comply with the advisory dated 30.01.2023 and upload the monthly PSB Report on the BS Portal latest by 7 days of the following month.”

In an advisory issued by the Ministry, dated January 30, 2023, all the private satellite TV channels were advised to undertake PSB in terms of Clause 35 of the Guidelines for Uplinking and Downlinking of Satellite Television Channels in India, 2022 dated November 9, 2022.

The aforesaid advisory was issued to guide the broadcasters on content, accounting, reporting and identification of PSB obligations and the channels were advised to file monthly reports with effect from March 1, 2023.

“For ease of compliance for PSB obligations by the broadcasters, the Ministry also provided bulk uploading facility for online filing of the PSB Report on the Broadcast Seva Porta (BS Portal) and also intimated the same to the broadcasters in the month of May 2023. The Ministry has noted that broadcasters, both news and current affairs as well as non-news and current affairs, have started filing the PSB Report through the BS Portal,” the Ministry said.
