Disney Star's Aravamudhan K joins Viacom18 to lead public policy

Disney Star’s Aravamudhan K, popularly known as Aru in the broadcast industry, has joined Viacom18 to head its public policy.

At Disney Star, he was the Executive Director, Government Relations.

Aru completed 15+ years with Star India, now a part of TWDC, and has worked closely with industry associations, policymakers and regulators on many of the issues facing the broadcast sector during his tenure.

In his previous role at Disney Star, he was Senior Vice-President for four-and-a-half years.

Aru joined Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS), the media arm of Star India and the owner of Star News, in 2006 as Manager. A year later, he was made a part of Star India to handle the regulatory approvals, compliance, internal and external communications, and government relations for the company.

His association with the broadcast sector is close to three decades starting from Production House - Video Magazine (Eyewitness) to freelancing for election coverage for Doordarshan to Home TV (General Entertainment Channel) to Media Houses - SAB TV, UTV and ITV - to news channel STAR News, STAR TV group and TWDC.
