Twitter to soon allow voice and video chat, encrypted messages: Elon Musk

Twitter has been undergoing a slew of changes in the recent past as CEO Elon Musk plans to make it - Twitter 2.0 The Everything App, and this time he has announced further enhancements for the microblogging platform.

As per Musk, new features will be rolled out soon which will allow users to chat through both voice and video.

He also stated that encrypted messages should be available with the next update on the platform.

Musk’s tweet on Tuesday read, “Release of encrypted DMs V1.0 should happen tomorrow. This will grow in sophistication rapidly. The acid test is that I could not see your DMs even if there was a gun to my head.”

“Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” he added.

These new features which will be rolled out in the upcoming updates will see the microblogging platform have features like Meta’s Instagram - as users would be able to talk to each other on call without sharing phone numbers.
