Reliance Retail appoints Amul's former MD RS Sodhi in advisory role

Reliance Retail has onboarded Amul’s former MD RS Sodhi as an advisor for its grocery business. Sources confirmed the development to Newsdrum.in.

Sodhi stepped down from the role of Managing Director at Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul) in January 2023.

One of the sources said that he has joined Reliance Retail in the capacity of an advisor and will be working for the company for a few days a month.

Another source shared that he has been onboarded because of his expertise in the farmers and dairy segment. He will be helping the company in the farmers’ integration into the Food & Beverage vertical of the business.

Sodhi first joined Amul in 1982 as a senior sales officer. From 2000-2004, he served as its general manager (marketing), and in June 2010, he was elevated to the MD role.

In the recent past, Reliance Retail Ventures’ consumer goods arm, Reliance Consumer Products has become quite aggressive on the products-line expansion front. It recently ventured into the highly competitive Cola drinks space with Campa. Last year, the company hired former Coca-Cola chairman T Krishnakumar.
