Disney Star has started laying off its staff in India but in a slightly more humane manner, as per highly placed sources whom BestMediaInfo.com reached out to.
The company is providing all possible support to the affected employees.
The employees have been offered salary up to one year depending on the tenure of their employment.
Disney has hired an agency which will support the affected employees for the next six months.
For example, employees' medical insurance will continue till September and after that they can port it to a personal insurance, according to sources.
The layoffs began on April 19 morning.
BestMediaInfo.com had earlier reported that Disney’s plans to lay off 4,000 employees globally had led to rise in fear among its Indian staff and apprehensions about their future in the company.
It is also pertinent to note that these reports surfaced before the company’s annual meeting.
Earlier, in February’s earning call Disney CEO Bob Iger had announced that the company will cut 7,000 jobs globally as part of its cost-savings plan and strategic reorganisation.
According to reports, multiple rounds of cuts are being planned by the company. As per the reports, the job cuts are expected to be spread across Disney’s three divisions — Entertainment; ESPN; and Parks, Experiences and Products
