Dainik Jagran – inext wins 2 trophies at WAN-IFRA South Asian Digital Media Awards

Dainik Jagran – inext’s ‘Breaking News’ has won awards across two categories at WAN IFRA’s South Asian Digital Media Awards.

The short form of content has gained popularity over the past few years due to its accessibility and convenience. While the major social platforms are already giving opportunity to create short video type content, consumers are exposed to less than 1 minute videos not only on social media but also over food delivery apps, OTT apps and texting apps likes of WhatsApp.

Breaking News is one such initiative by Dainik Jagran which delivers real time updates of the city to its subscribers in a byte size video format.

The daily has received Bronze in Best Use of Short Form Video category and Silver in Best Special Project for Covid-19/Pandemic Reporting category.

Chetan Sehgal, DGM-Brand Development, Dainik Jagran-inext, said, “Breaking News was conceptualised during the peak of Covid-19 when people feared the spread of virus through newspapers. As a media brand, it was our responsibility to deliver authentic news to our audience and make them aware of the happenings of the city. We took route of most used texting medium, WhatsApp, and delivered real time local news to our audience in byte size video format, reinforced with Fact Check Logo. The videos were delivered twice a day to our readers in morning and evening covering important information about the pandemic and the city. Coming from a media brand, Breaking news was a credible source of information which also helped curb the impact of fake news that was circulating on WhatsApp and strongly connected with the public.”

As per Dainik Jagran, Breaking news has reached an estimated 25+ million users across four states since its inception. It added that, as of now, Breaking news is delivered to 2.5 lakh users twice a day across 12 cities in the Hindi Heartland.

“Breaking News winning awards in two apt categories reinforces its proposition and the objective with which it was conceptualised,” said the CEO of Dainik Jagran-inext, Alok Sanwal. He added, “Connecting with the audience digitally is not a choice anymore but has become a must practice for any brand. We at Dainik Jagran-inext have been actively increasing our digital presence and exploring various opportunities with an objective of building strong connect with our audience.”

Mr Shailesh Gupta, Director, Jagran Prakashan Ltd. said that each of these wins truly delight us and strengthen the belief of Jagran Group of enriching the lives of its people through its various initiatives and building strong bond with the audience. This global recognition along with several others is a testament of the success of our initiatives and motivate us to keep doing better.
