In coming weeks, Twitter to rollout a higher-priced subscription that shows zero ads: Musk

Elon Musk

This time around, Elon Musk, Chief Twit, took to the microblogging platform to announce the upcoming rollout of a higher priced subscription that allows zero ads.

The Chief Twit stated that ads are ‘too frequent’ and ‘too big’ on Twitter at the moment, and the company is taking steps to address both of the issues in coming weeks.

In a thread, Musk also went on to point out that there will be a higher priced subscription that allows zero ads.

Earlier on, Twitter had removed the ‘legacy blue checks’ stating that the prior rationale behind verified handles was corrupt and nonsensical and announced that a new subscription-based model for Twitteratis and companies is in the development.

Until now, the sale of ads on the platform were a major contributor to Twitter’s revenue, so much so that it contributed to 90% of it.

Musk had first hinted at the new higher tier with no ads in December last year, when he had relaunched Twitter Blue with certain subscriber-only features like the blue checkmark at $8 per month on web and $11 per month on iOS.

As per Twitter, the audience who subscribed to revamped Twitter Blue will see 50% fewer ads than non-verified people and will also be able to post longer videos.
