E-commerce platform Flipkart and digital storytelling platform Pratilipi have announced that they will join forces to create a library of fiction and nonfiction e-books in 12 Indian languages across multiple genres.
As per Pratilipi, it has around 25 million monthly active users. Over 9.5 million stories have been published on Pratilipi till date with 500 million reads every month. Daily active users currently spend 90 minutes per day and premium subscribers spend around 3 hours/day, the platform said.
With this collaboration, Pratilipi aims to dig deeper amongst the audience consuming regional content and expand its user base in hinterlands of India. This will allow bookworms across the country to explore stories/novels/series beyond the barriers of language and geography by creating the largest e-book library of premium content by homegrown talents.
The larger vision with this collaboration is to eventually create a strong ecosystem of regional literature in various formats with amateur as well as established authors combining the Pratilipi product ecosystem which includes Pratilipi Comics, Westland Books, IVM Podcasts etc.
