Colors Tamil, Viacom 18’s Tamil entertainment channel, is all set to telecast the world television premiere of ‘Pistha’.
The premiere, scheduled for Sunday, December 18 at 2 pm, is sponsored by special partner - Sree Kumaran Thanga Maligaiyun Bangle Mela.
Specialising in putting a halt to weddings, the film revolves around a man who is a “Wedding Stopper” by profession but what happens when he is left without a bride at his own wedding?
Directed by M Ramesh Baarathi, the film features actors Shirish Saravanan, Mrudula Murali in the lead roles, while actors Yogi Babu, Sathish, Swaminathan, and Bava Lakshmanan form the supporting cast.
Having rendered the song "Azhagula Rasathi", Yuvan Shankar Raja and Composer Dharan’s composition enhances the essence of the film.
Based in a rural setting in Kumbakonam, Sandhai Saravanan (Shirish Saravanan) is a happy-go-lucky villager who spends most of the time with his friends Sathish (Sathish) and Mark Babu (Yogi Babu) putting a stop to weddings that take place without the bride and bridegroom’s consent.
Creating a ruckus at most weddings, Sarvanan is quite successful as a “wedding stopper.” He soon falls head over heels for Selvi (Mrudula Murali), a drama artiste who strives to impart education to villages through her plays. As the movie progresses, he lands in trouble for his profession and gets imprisoned and now he has to choose between his life as a wedding stopper or the love of his life, what Saravanan chooses forms the rest of the plot.
Director Baarathi said, “In my opinion, Pistha is quite a unique film with a unique concept where one gets to witness wedding stoppers. Most films usually bring individuals who are wedding planners and plan ingenious weddings, but the idea was to create a fun element with a twist, hence we reversed the concept. With great comical actors like Sathish, Yogi Babu, and Swaminathan it was a humorous experience shooting for the film, and we are confident that the merriness will reflect on television screens with the World Television Premiere of Pistha and audiences will have a great weekend watch.
Actor Saravanan said, “This is my third film in the Tamil Industry and I am so glad that people will now get to watch it from the comfort of their homes with Pistha’s premiere on Colors Tamil. The sheer brilliance of the ideology of bringing a full stop to unwilling weddings combined with hilarity will definitely pique the interest of the audiences who will have an entertaining Sunday with their loved ones.”
