Colors to launch Bigg Boss 16 on Oct 1

Colors is set to premiere the 16th season of "Bigg Boss" on October 1. The show will air on weekdays at 10 pm and at 9.30 pm on the weekends.

Until now, ‘BIGG BOSS’ has essayed the role of a taskmaster, supporter, philosopher, and ultimate entertainer. For the first time, the master of the house ‘BIGG BOSS’ will be stepping into the game in a never-seen-before avatar and challenge the contestants with a playbook of 15 seasons. The 16th season will crack another big first with an 'Interactive India' episode, through which the viewers will get the opportunity to engage and connect with housemates every week.

Produced by Endemol Shine India, ‘Bigg Boss Season 16’ with Special Partner Ching’s Schezwan Chutney, Make-up Partner MyGlamm, and Taste partner Priya Gold Hunk will premiere on October 1 at 9:30 pm on Colors and Voot.

Nina Elavia Jaipuria, Head, Hindi Mass Entertainment and Kids TV Network, Viacom18, said, “Bigg Boss is one of India’s most celebrated reality shows and enjoys exceptional fandom. A spectacular marvel from our plethora of diverse content, this most anticipated show brings a massive dose of entertainment to our viewers. Extending engagement across all platforms, the show offers a great canvas for advertisers to connect with their target audience. After the grand success of Khatron Ke Khiladi, we aim to keep the entertainment quotient high with an unprecedented season of Bigg Boss.”

She added, “We are delighted to welcome onboard our special partner Ching’s Schezwan Chutney, Make-up Partner MyGlamm, Taste Partner Priya Gold Hunk, Garnier Men and Hershey’s kisses as Associate Partners and look forward to yet another outstanding season. With this exciting new theme, we are certain that this unpredictable season will keep the viewers enthralled.”

Manisha Sharma, Chief Content Officer, Hindi Mass Entertainment, Viacom18, said, “15 years back, Bigg Boss revolutionised the world of entertainment by introducing Indian households to captive reality. Since then, this show has empowered us to experiment, grow, innovate, and unlock an entirely new level of entertainment. With the theme ‘Game badlega, kyunki ab Bigg Boss khelega’, the idea is to bring a twist to the most loved and authoritative character on the show. We’ve seen Bigg Boss in many avatars over the years and for the first time, he will be seen playing the game. This season, we have an eclectic mix of celebrity contestants from different walks of life. The viewers already love some of them and they’ll get to know the rest of them very soon. We are elated to have Salman Khan bring his star power and a sense of justice to the show once again.”

Rishi Negi, CEO, Endemol Shine India, said, “The Bigg Boss of reality shows is back with the 16th season. Our endeavour at Endemol Shine India has been to consistently evolve, reinvent and, revolutionize the format of the show and upping the game, season by season. This year, we will reveal a never-seen-before facet of the show with the mastermind of the house, Bigg Boss not playing by the rules. The diverse mix of contestants will enhance the entertainment flavour as they compete against each other while courting favour of their fellow contestants and audience. We look forward to a great season with the one-and-only Dabangg-host Salman Khan.”

Salman Khan said, “Coming back to Bigg Boss as a host every year feels like a tradition and I look forward to it. The immense love from the audience, the exciting mix of contestants and the innovative themes undoubtedly make the journey truly special. The 16th season is set to be even more exciting with the theme, ‘Game badlega, kyunki ab BIGG BOSS khud khelega' and will open a pandora of whole new twists. My best wishes to all the contestants, who will take on the challenge of competing with Bigg Boss.”

At the launch press conference on Tuesday, Khan spoke at length with actor and former "Bigg Boss" winner Gauahar Khan.

Khan said viewers should expect the unexpected from the upcoming season since Bigg Boss himself is one of the participants this time.

"I don't know what will happen. Whatever will happen will be good. This time the game is different because Bigg Boss is part of the competition. This season will be different, fast and unpredictable." Salman, who has been hosting "Bigg Boss" since 2010, said he has developed an affinity towards the show over the years.

"It's been 12 years now, it's been a long time. I am used to it. I like the game, there is a lot to learn. You get to meet so many people. You protect the ones who are being bullied and bully the one who bullies. In those four months, we develop a bond," he said.

Upon being asked if he will ever enter the Bigg Boss house as a participant, the actor said he has already been playing the game the "right way".

"In the beginning when 'Bigg Boss' had started, people were playing the real game, (they would) show their personality. Then people saw this game and started playing a false game. They think we don't see anything but we can see everything.”

"The system of the show is not to be partial at all and make sure no one crosses the boundary. We try to bring real personalities into the house. In the previous seasons, different personalities would come with a notion and then after one-and-half months or so, their true personality would come out," he added.

Tajik singer Abdu Rozik was announced as the first contestant of the new installment. Rozik has sung a song for Salman's upcoming film "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, the star said.

For this season, the channel has devised a 360-degree extensive marketing and digital strategy spread across television, outdoor, print, digital and cinema. On television, the campaign will establish the theme, ‘Game badlega kyunki ab BIGG BOSS khud khelega’ of the season through four unique promos that will be aired on network and non-network television channels across Hindi News, Hindi Movies, Hindi Music, and regional genres.

The show will also be promoted in the soon to be released movie, 'Vikram Vedha' across multiplex cinema theatres in Mumbai and Delhi. Key junctions in Mumbai and Delhi will host large impact billboards. On the digital front, a stylised behind the scenes of the promo shoot featuring Salman Khan was captured and released to excite the viewers.

In an exclusive segment, digital creator RJ Karishma is set to unveil the 'Bigg Boss' house. Additionally, for the first time ever a fun interactive element has been added where the fans of the show will get a chance to ask questions to the contestants before they step into the house. To keep the buzz going, the Bigg Boss emoji will be live on Twitter from the launch week along with an Instagram filter with this year’s contestants which will be created post the launch.
