Celebrating 75th year of Independence, gameplay, immediate gratification, and higher rewards are KBC's tenets this time: Danish Khan

Kaun Banega Crorepati’s 14th season is all set to be launched on Sony TV. This year, the show is celebrating India’s 75th year of Independence and promises to create a more engaging and gratifying experience for the viewers.

The show’s campaign this year was based on the advent of misinformation in society. Speaking about it, Danish Khan, Business Head – Channel SET, Digital Businesses and StudioNEXT said, “The KBC campaigns typically try to say something about our society. As a society we have always put knowledge at a pedestal, knowledge as a tool can be a great equaliser and that is something we have seen in the past so many years.”

“Gathering knowledge and dreaming to have a different life, and social mobility is what we have been taught across India. KBC is one such outlet that celebrates that. Every year we look at the relevance of knowledge in our society. This year we are talking about filtering knowledge. Today we have been bombarded with information, to filter that information and find the truth is a skill set that our society is grappling with. This is why the theme ‘jaha se gyaan milta hai use bator lo par pehle use tatol lo’.”

This season is also big on themes like patriotism, and to celebrate the 75th year of India’s Independence minor tweaks have been made in the format. The makers have introduced a new ‘padaav’ at the 15th question, wherein the contestants are assured of prize money of Rs 75 lakh. Additionally, the jackpot prize amount has been increased to Rs 7.5 crores. There is also an opportunity of getting a chance to grace the hot seat every Friday for the viewers engaging who are engaging with the show through PlayAlong.

“This year KBC has 4 key tenets: celebration of India’s 75th year of Independence, thrilling gameplay, immediate gratification, and higher rewards. We are positive that this will make KBC an immersive and engaging experience for contestants, viewers and KBC Play Along participants,” said Khan.

NP Singh, MD and CEO, Sony Pictures Networks India, said, “We commence the celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on our most iconic and premium brand, Kaun Banega Crorepati. It is our way to celebrate our nation, people and achievements over the last 75 years. It is our endeavour to deepen the viewers' knowledge of India’s rich history and culture.”

A special episode will also be aired on August 7, 2022, presenting Kargil war veteran Major DP Singh, Colonel Mitali Madhumita, and Indian sports icons, Padma Vibhushan awardee MC Mary Kom and Padma Shri recipient Sunil Chhetri and Padma Bhushan awardee Aamir Khan.

Speaking about the show, veteran actor and host Amitabh Bachchan said, “I feel inspired and stunned hearing the stories of a few contestants. It makes me question, ‘What am I doing?’ Everyone who comes to the show contributes to making this show a success in some way or the other.”

He further spoke about how the crew members and the makers of the show work tirelessly to get the show on the screens.

Meanwhile, upon being asked about what has kept the show relevant all these years, Singh said, “We have seen the show evolve with the viewer, and we always keep a finger on the pulse of the viewer and keep engaging them with our content. This is exactly what we have done with KBC, and that is why it has been so successful.”
