The erstwhile Managing Editor of TV9 Bharatvarsh, Sant Prasad Rai is set to join ABP News, according to sources. He was part of the TV9 Bharatvarsh’s editorial team for close to three years.
This development has come on the back of TV9 Network’s decision to synergise broadcast and digital businesses. Therefore, the company announced that Deep Upadhyay, Editor, Convergence & Strategy will now be leading the editorial of the TV9 Bharatvarsh channel.
Rahul Chaudhary will support Upadhyay in managing the day-to-day newsroom operations for the time being.
In a statement, TV9 said, “TV9 Network continues to scale to new heights with industry benchmark setting performance both in revenue and viewership in Q1 FY22-23. Committed to always staying ahead of the curve, the Network continues its aggressive expansion in future-ready businesses. The recent new launches from the Network include Money9 – India’s 1st multilingual and multimedia Personal Finance App and News9 Plus – India’s 1st OTT English News Magazine. To keep up with the growth pace, the management has decided to synergize broadcast and digital businesses.”
Upadhyay joined TV9 Network from News24 in February 2021. At News24, he was the Managing Editor for more than seven years. Previously, he has worked at India TV, Zee News and Dainik Bhaskar.
In June 2022, TV9 Network expanded Upadhyay’s role by appointing him as interim editor of TV9 Hindi and English websites.
Rai joined TV9 following the departure of Vinod Kapri from the TV9 group. Before that, he was Senior Executive Editor at India TV. He has also been the Editor-Output of Zee Media from July 2017 to April 2018. Previously he has worked at News 24, Sahara Samay and ETV UP.
