Zee Media sacks Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, Editor, Zee Punjab Haryana Himachal channel

Zee Media has sacked Jagdeep Singh Sandhu, Editor, Zee Punjab Haryana Himachal channel with effect from March 28, 2022.

Giving the reason for Sandhu’s sacking, Zee Media said in a statement, “It has been brought to the notice of the management of Zee Media that Sandhu allegedly entered a clandestine understanding with a political party contesting Punjab assembly elections 2-3 months back.”

Divulging further information into the matter, Zee Media said, “As part of the deal between Sandhu and the political party, Sandhu was supposed to do biased reporting on Zee PHH TV station in favour of the party, which bypassed the organisation’s policy to remain neutral and impartial all the time. The political party supposedly agreed to grant him a Rajya Sabha nomination”.

But according to Zee Media, “Later on, the political party backed out of the deal. Sandhu was exposed in front of the management of Zee Media, as he suddenly wanted to persuade the management to publish stories against the said political party.”

“Such act by Jagdeep is seen as not only, unlawful, and unethical journalistic practice but it also amounts to defrauding and misleading the viewers of the network,” said a spokesperson of Zee Media.
