The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) is all set to launch the online facilitation portal ‘Broadcast Seva Portal’ on April 4, 2022.
Minister of I&B, Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, will be the chief guest of the launch event.
The portal will provide online facilities to the broadcasters who are seeking permissions, subsequent changes in the permissions and payment of fees.
The portal will also come in handy for those who require permissions for Uplinking/downlinking of Private Satellite TV channels and Teleporting, Uplinks by News agencies, permission for use of SNG/DSNGs for news gatherings etc.
According to the Ministry, it will ease the process of communication between the applicants and different stakeholders, for faster processing of applications.
Earlier in November 2021, during the Apos summit organised by Media Partners Asia Today, I&B Ministry Secretary, Apurva Chandra, had spoken about the portal. Chandra had said, “This will make the process of any permission or approval which is required from the government completely online. It will not only expedite the process but broadcasters will also be able to see the status of their applications. And that will make it much simpler.”
