YouTube’s Global Head of Original Content Susanne Daniels will exit the company after seven years of association.
Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s Chief Business Officer, released a statement on his Twitter handle, announcing the reduction of their “original slate” and of Daniels’ decision to step down.
At YouTube, Daniels oversaw the programming of multiple scripted series, such as “Cobra Kai” and “On Becoming A God in Central Florida”, amongst others. ‘Cobra Kai’ was later picked up by Netflix and has a large global fanbase, while “On Becoming A God in Central Florida” moved to Showtime.
In 2018, YouTube started reducing its scripted content. This is when speculations regarding Daniels’ association with the platform coming to an end began to do the rounds.
However, she continued her association and pivoted into unscripted content. This led to other success stories such as the Emmy Award-winning show, Michelle Obama’s “Creators For Change,” and the Emmy-nominated “Ascension: David Blaine.”
Before joining YouTube, Daniels had worked at MTV, Fox Television and Warner Bros. She was involved with the development of shows such as ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Dawson’s Creek’.
