Sony Sports Network geared up for Australian Open 2022 broadcast

Sony Sports Network is all set to broadcast the year’s first Grand Slam event, Australian Open 2022, Live on Sony Six, Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 4 channels starting January 17, 2022.

Tennis fans across India will get to watch competition between top-seeded players in Hindi on Sony Ten 3 and in English on the remaining channels from January 17 to January 30. The tournament will also be livestreamed on Sony’s on-demand OTT platform, SonyLIV.

As part of the holistic programming initiative, Sony Sports Network will bring the best action from Melbourne Park and provide in-depth insights on their live studio show, Extraaa Serve which will be hosted by Arpit Sharma and Sarthak Lal.

Former tennis players like Somdev Devvarman, Purav Raja and Gaurav Natekar are all set to feature as expert panellists on Extraaa Serve, along with on-ground reporter Adriano Del Monte. The Hindi commentary on Sony Ten 3 will be provided by Manish Batavia, Atish Thukral and Gaurav Natekar. 

The tournament promises fun and delight as World Number 1 Ash Barty will attempt to become the first local player to win an Australian Open Singles title in 44-years while defending champion Naomi Osaka is expected to return to action and will target a fifth career major singles title. Rafael Nadal, tied with Djokovic at 20 career-major singles titles, will also be competing for the first time since August and will hope to end Djokovic’s streak at Australian Open 2022.

Australian Open 2022 will see participation from top Indian players like Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza. The mixed doubles pair from India, Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna, will be playing in this year’s tournament and will look to make the nation proud on the international tennis arena.

This edition of the Grand Slam will also witness the 100th anniversary of women’s competition at the Australian Open. To honour this incredible feat, there will be a historic change in the schedule of the tournament. 

The world’s best female athletes are set to shine in prime time at the Australian Open, with both women’s semi-final matches moving to the night session.

Sony Sports Network has received a good response from advertisers from across various sectors for this year’s edition as brands like Lenovo, Amul, Kia Motors, and LIC have come on-board as sponsors. Other advertisers like Skoda, Total Oil, Ford, Go Mechanic, Mercedes, Dafa News, Fairplay News, 1X News, Netmed and Apple have also jumped on the bandwagon before the start of the tennis tournament.
