After I&B Ministry’s order to BARC India to release the ratings for the news genre with immediate effect, the pressure on BARC India for the early release of data is escalating.
BestMediaInfo.com on Thursday wrote how the ratings agency had informed I&B Ministry that it requires time to reach out to all stakeholders in the ecosystem to explain the revamped and tightened access protocols for data, and it may take a couple of months for the final rollout of the data.
Now, Prasar Bharati Chief Executive Officer, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, who headed the TRP Committee and now has been appointed the Chairman of Joint Working Group for study on RPD, appears to be putting pressure on BARC India for the immediate release of news ratings.
Vempati tweeted that he sees “no reason for BARC to further delay the matter”.
I am hopeful that Ratings for the News genre are resumed at the earliest. I see no reason for @BARCIndia to further delay the matter. https://t.co/pTpWfdzgyU

On Thursday, News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) led by Arnab Goswami had pressed for the immediate release of ratings, while News Broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA) led by Rajat Sharma had said that the data should be released only after BARC makes the system foolproof.
