Business tycoon Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016-17, and international equity investment firm Irelia Company Pte Limited (CVC Capital) shelled out a combined Rs 12,715 crore to win the bids for two new IPL teams, a windfall that far exceeded BCCI's expectations on Monday.

India’s print major and the owner of Hindi daily Hindustan, Hindustan Media Ventures Limited, too participated in the bid. Besides HMVL, the other entities that participated in the bid were: Adani Sportsline Private Limited, a consortium consisting of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone; Amrit Lila Enterprises, Avashya Corporation, Capri Global, Championship Cricket and Torrent Sports Ventures.
With this, now all eyes will be on the media rights for IPL which BCCI will soon kick off the bidding process. Star India had won the media rights across television and digital for 2017-2022.
