BestMediaInfo has created a category with the successful inaugural Rising Star Awards. The success of the awards can be gauged by the fact that ET Brand Equity imitated the awards just the next day.
In a closely contested race to grab the High Chair at the BestMediaInfo Rising Star Awards 2021, Abhishek Goyal of OrComm APL, a lesser known agency from Indore, emerged as the dark horse by winning the highest honour, the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award, for owning a media within limited resources.
Goyal’s idea to create a newspaper titled ‘Gramophone Uday’ also won High Chairs in the eCommerce category and special category Rising Star for Best Strategy, Print.
After winning the coveted title, Goyal said, “Our sole purpose here is to find a solution to a marketing problem that not just benefits the brand but also impacts society at large. I thank the judges and BestMediaInfo for being the stage where work like this can be recognised, showcased and celebrated.”
On the other hand, Wavemaker India proved its metal by winning the maximum six out of the total 17 High Chairs awarded during the virtual ceremony of the inaugural Rising Star Awards, presented by India TV. Among the six winners, Faheem Merchant scored the highest across categories for his work titled ‘Making India Generous Again - One Thank You at a Time’ done for Cadbury.
Elated with the big wins across categories at the inaugural Rising Star Awards, Ajay Gupte, CEO, South Asia, Wavemaker, said, “Extremely proud of our young talented Wavemakers for bagging the maximum number of shortlists and also High Chair awards. Our people are our greatest strength and it gives me great joy to see them getting recognition on this prestigious stage. The competition was really fierce and I think everyone out there is a winner in their own way. I would like to congratulate the entire team of Best Media Info Group for organising such a stellar show to acknowledge the young creative minds in the media and marketing fraternity.”
The third big winner at the awards was Nitasha Seth of Netflix India, who won three High Chairs for her innovative idea and execution titled ‘Netflix Matchmaker’ across the Media & Entertainment category and two special categories — Rising Star for Best Strategy - Digital (Social) and Rising Star for Best Strategy - Digital (Programmatic).
Other big winners of awards were young media strategists from Initiative and Interactive Avenues. There were two High Chair winners from each of these IPG agencies.
The esteemed jury consisting of 11 industry heads and media strategy veterans picked up winners across 12 business categories and 7 special categories. The jury selected one Winner and Finalists in each category. While the Winners went home with a High Chair each, the Finalists were given certificates as a token of appreciation. The Finalists were close enough but couldn’t win the coveted title by a tiny margin.
