Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEE), in line with its national-level CSR drive against Covid-19, donated a dedicated Covid health centre (DCHC) for frontline workers and their families to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).

The DCHC facility has been built at Ghodbunder Road, Thane. It was inaugurated and officially handed over to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) at an event by Punit Goenka, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Zee, in the presence of Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

The DCHC will provide strong support to the TMC in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by aiding the treatment of affected frontline workers. The DCHC has been set up with complete medical compliance in line with the guidelines provided by the Health Ministry and the TMC.

  • The health centre will house 304 beds with 70% centrally distributed oxygen through pipelines.
  • The facility is equipped with a field lab within the premises to enable testing for Covid-19, X-rays and ECG.

Punit Goenka said, “At Zee, we remain committed in taking all the key steps required to fight against Covid-19. The dedicated Covid health centre is an effort from our end to support our frontline warriors in Maharashtra, be it doctors, nurses, police officials or from the Municipal Corporations, who have stood like a rock, ensuring our safety and well-being during these uncertain times. We stand together with them to front this fight against the pandemic. I am thankful to CM Uddhav Thackeray for his guidance and Minister for Tourism, Environment Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, Aaditya Uddhav Thackeray, for his support.”

CM Thackeray, while appreciating the company's efforts said, "We have always heard that people say as to who would do it, who would take the necessary steps to create a difference, but Goenka, you have done it and showcased it to the society at large. I would like to thank you and Zee for taking this step and appreciate your efforts undertaken for the welfare of Maharashtra."

In its national-level CSR drive to enhance the country’s healthcare infrastructure against Covid-19, Zee donated 240+ ambulances, 46,000+ PPE kits, 90+ oxygen humidifiers and 6,00,000 daily meals.

At a national level, Zee financially supported over 5,000 daily wage earners working directly or indirectly with the company. Further, over 3,400 employees contributed towards the PM Cares Fund. The amount generated was matched by Zee, and the collective proceeds were donated to PM Cares Fund.
