Republic Network misrepresented confidential communication, says BARC India

Amidst the claims by Republic Media Network of getting a clean chit from BARC India, the joint industry body is upset and has expressed its dismay at the actions of the Republic Network.

BARC India in a statement said it has not commented on the ongoing investigation and it is providing necessary assistance to the law enforcement agency.

"BARC India is highly disappointed with the actions of the Republic Network by disclosing private and confidential communications and misrepresenting the same. BARC India reiterates that it has not commented on the ongoing investigation and without prejudice to BARC India’s rights, it expresses its dismay at the actions of the Republic Network," it said.

Earlier today, calling it the biggest revelation, Republic Media Network revealed the details of an email conversation between its CEO Vikas Khanchandani and BARC CEO Sunil Lulla.

Khanchandani wrote an email to BARC on October 16, 2020, requesting it to "confirm in the public domain" that the "BARC and its vigilance team has found no infringement by Republic TV (ARG Outliers Media Pvt. Ltd)".

Even as the matter was under investigation, BARC India CEO Lulla responded to that email saying, “If there was any disciplinary action initiated against ARG Outlier Media Private Ltd, then BARC India would have communicated the same to you along with necessary documents for your response."

Revealing the above email communication, Republic claimed, “Thus, this e-mail proves that BARC did not allege any malpractice against the Republic Media Network, and yet, the Mumbai Police Commissioner floated a factually-bereft campaign against it, which has been comprehensively exposed at every turn.”
