Once considered a potential successor to Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch has cut all ties with his father’s global media empire and resigned from the board of News Corp.
“My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company’s news outlets and certain other strategic decisions,” Murdoch said in his resignation letter as informed by News Corp in a filing with the NASDAQ.
As a result of Murdoch’s resignation, the size of the Board was reduced to 10 Directors, effective upon such resignation, the company said.
Murdoch had last year set up the first office outside the US for his new investment firm, Lupa Systems, in Mumbai. Lupa Systems’ India operation is headed by former Star Sports CEO Nitin Kukreja.
The company made its first investment in India in online learning institution Harappa Education earlier this year in January.
