HT Media, the publisher of Hindustan Times, Mint and Hindustan, has laid off over 100 staff in order to optimise its expenses after the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown severely hit its print businesses.

Sources close to the development told BestMediaInfo.com that senior staff and many from outstation editions have been laid off as advised by Mckinsey.

“The entire social media and private chat messages are flooded with the names of people who have lost their jobs as well as speculation over the closure of the Patna and Pune editions,” the source said.
A senior editorial staff on condition of anonymity said that people who have lost their jobs are mostly from editorial. “How many Finance and HR guys have lost or sacrificed their jobs who are suggesting layoff route for cost optimisation?” the miffed staffer asked.

However, a query sent to the HT spokesperson went unanswered at the time of filing of this report.
