#FightingCoronavirus: McCann India shoots TVC for Dettol from the confines of home

The aim was to drive home a point in an illustrative manner on how soap keeps germs away. McCann team got in touch with directors to shoot the video, editor for post-production, and a music composer—everything from home

As we collectively deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, washing hands with soap has gained even more importance. Doctors, health experts and medical associations, the world over, are stressing the need for hand hygiene.

To put this message across and to convey the importance of personal hygiene to prevent spread of Covid-19, germ protection brand Dettol recently shot and launched a film, in public interest, to drive home a point in a simple illustrative manner on how soap keeps germs away.

McCann India adhered to guidelines and maintained social distancing to ensure the health and safety of all involved while making the film.

The challenge was how to deliver this important message without stepping out of one’s home. Compromising safety while shooting the video would have defeated the purpose.

The McCann team got in touch with directors who could produce this video from the confines of their homes by shooting it on their mobile phones with little or no equipment at their disposal. And not just that, they had to cast their own family members.

Even the post production of the video was done by an editor and music composer from their respective homes and the grading was done on remote from Poland.

The team managed to deliver this important message to millions of homes in India without anyone having to step out of their homes.
