Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation on lockdown extension on April 14 at 10-10.30 am broke all records including PM’s own address on March 24 when he announced the first nationwide lockdown between 8-8.30 pm.
According to the viewership data released by BARC India for Week 15, Aaj Tak took the lion’s share among Hindi news channels. Compared with PM’s address to announce the first lockdown, Aaj Tak was the only channel among top six Hindi news channels that recorded growth.
Among the target audience of 15+ age group in Hindi speaking markets, Aaj Tak garnered over 13mn impressions, up 5.5% over the previous address by the PM.
ABP News remained at No. 2 while Zee News jumped one position to No. 3, owing to a much larger drop in India TV’s viewership. Republic Bharat and News18 India were at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
