Mindhsare and Hindustan Unilever made a grand comeback as the ‘Media Agency of the year’ and the ‘Media Client of the year’ at the 19th edition of Emvies Awards held in Mumbai on October 4. Wavemaker, which had beaten Mindshare last year to claim the ‘Agency of the year’ title, was a close No. 2 this year. Vodafone too slipped to No. 2 position this year.
At Emvies 2019, Mediacom India and Watconsult won Grand Emvie Award.
Mediacom India bagged the Grand Emvie for Ariel’s ‘Now It’s time Sons- Share the Load’. Watconsult bagged the Grand Emvie for Ariston Thermo – Racold - Mind Your Language.
The Best Implementation Team of the Year went to Street Talk -A division of Signpost India for Nestle - Nestle India - Bus Shelters that talk Coffee in the category ‘Best Media Innovation: Out of Home’.
MA Parthasarathy, who took over as the CEO of Mindshare South Asia earlier this year, credited this victory to the hunger of winning more than the previous year and told BestMediaInfo.com that it was possible because of the clients and young talents at work who push for a better performance every year.
“Every year is a learning experience. We count ourselves lucky to have some fabulous clients to work with. They give us opportunities to work for them and win these awards and medals. It is almost like a responsibility to win for clients who trust and choose our agency,” said Parthasarathy who is fondly known as Maps.
When asked the reasons behind the performance, Maps said, “The big thing we have done is that we have invested heavily in terms of data and consumer insights for better understanding of consumers. We experiment on how much we can use data and analytics to get into the path of the consumer.”
Maps believes that agencies should be completely open sourced and platform-neutral. “Besides, we always think of ideas that haven’t been done before in the market,” he said.
Amin Lakhani, COO, Mindshare South Asia, said, “We have always been experimental with the use of data, digital and content. Our clients have played a major role in these victories. They have supported us in our endeavours to go beyond the seen and raise our bars year after year. Hence, our clients are equal holders of these awards as we are.”
While Mindshare topped with 340 points closely followed by Wavemaker with 310 points, Initiative was third most awarded agency with 135 points.
