India puts up best-ever show at Spikes Asia 2019 with six Grand Prix

FCB India, Dentsu Webchutney, DDB Mudra, BBDO India Mumbai, Leo Burnett India and TBWA\India Mumbai win a Grand Prix each. India’s total medal tally stood at 65

Indian agencies put up their best-ever performance at Spikes Asia 2019 winning six Grand Prix, seven Gold, 25 Silver and 25 Bronze Spikes and two Creative Effectiveness Spikes.

India’s total medal tally stood at 65.

Dentsu Webchutney Bangalore won the Grand Prix for ‘Hagglebot’ for Flipkart in Creative eCommerce category. The agency also bagged 20 Spikes including five Gold, eight Silver and seven Bronze.

Ashish Bhasin, CEO APAC and Chairman India – Dentsu Aegis Network, said, “Goafest, Cannes, Kyoriyus and now Spikes! Dentsu Webchutney has surfaced as leaders across all. In Brand Experience and Activation category, the Grand Prix was presented to ‘The Open Door Project’, for The Millennium School, by FCB India, Delhi. FCB’s Sindoor Khela for The Times of India won a Creative Effectiveness Spike.

Commenting on the win, Swati Bhattacharya, CCO, FCB Ulka, said, “It’s never short of a miracle when you find a client and a jury with their heart in the right place.”

Speaking on the occasion, the founder of The Millennium Schools , Shantanu Prakash who has envisioned the Open Door Project, said, “I am very excited to know that the Open Door Project has won Grand Prix at Spikes Asia! This is an important acknowledgement to the mission of the Open Door Project which aims to eradicate illiteracy amongst the street children and students who are out of school; giving the mission the prominence it deserves.”

“This award will enable more people to start looking at the Open Door Project and given its relevance to India, in the light of the new education policy that says no child should be left behind! I think this is a momentous achievement and we are proud of the honour and acknowledgement that has been given to this project,” Prakash added.

DDB Mudra Mubai’s ‘Project Free Period’ for Johnson & Johnson won the Grand Prix and a Creative Effectiveness Spike in Creative Effectiveness category. The agency also won a Silver and a Bronze.

Quoting on the win, Rahul Mathew, National Creative Director, DDB Mudra Group said, “Over the last few years we have been rebuilding the agency around our creative product. And redefining our relationships with the clients to create bigger and better work. This is great recognition for all the effort and the energies that everyone has been putting in this direction.”

In Glass – The Award for Change category, the Grand Prix went to ‘Sons #ShareTheLoad’ for P&G India, by BBDO India Mumbai.

TBWA\India Mumbai won the Grand Prix for ‘One Mindful Mind’ done for Neurogen. The campaign also won two Bronze awards.

'#StopMithani' campaign for HDFC Bank done by Leo Burnett India, Mumbai won the Healthcare Grand Prix. Leo Burnett also won four Bronze Spikes.

Speaking about the win Rajdeepak Das, MD India and Chief Creative Officer Leo Burnett South Asia, said, “This is a great win for our team and we can’t thank the HDFC Bank team enough for believing in our ideas. The HDFC Bank Stop Mithani campaign is the perfect example of the Leo Burnett HumanKind philosophy where we motivated lakhs of people to come together for a worthy cause. This is the story of Mr. Mithani who has donated blood 151 times and has just turned 65 – an age post which donating blood could be fatal. We actually got the entire nation to save him by donating blood in his place - 3,50, 0000 people pledged to donate blood to stop him. Congratulations to both the HDFC Bank and Leo Burnett teams on winning the Grand Prix.”
