Facebook invests in Indian startup Meesho

Meesho is an online marketplace that connects sellers with customers on social media platforms such as WhatsApp. The four-year-old startup claims to have a network of more than 2 million resellers who largely deal with apparel, home appliances and electronics items.

It facilitates a three-way marketplace enabling resellers, SMBs, and micro-entrepreneurs across India to connect with potential buyers using social media. A majority of these entrepreneurs are women who are realizing their dream of owning a business for the first time.
