Unlike Hindi dailies, nine of the top-10 English dailies recorded marginal to healthy growth in their average issue readership in IRS 2019 Q1 over the previous survey. While TOI, Mumbai Mirror, Mid Day and Mint recorded double-digit growth up to 24.25% in their AIR, the only decline was recorded by The Telegraph.
Leading by a distant margin, the largest read English daily The Times of India recorded an AIR of 56,46,000, up by 11.5% from 50,63,000 in the previous survey.
The readership data of the second largest read English daily Hindustan Times has been kept on hold pending re-verification of the data.
In the absence of HT, The Hindu English has come at No. 2 with an AIR of 16,35,000 compared with 15,68,000 in the previous survey.
The pecking order of top-10 English dailies has not seen any change from the previous IRS.
