Under Armour, the athletic apparel, footwear and accessories brand, has announced the opening of its first physical retail location in India. At the inaugural celebration, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Plank, President and Chief Operating Officer Patrik Frisk and Olympian Michael Phelps underscored the importance of the Indian market to Under Armour’s long-term international growth strategy.

“We are excited to open our first retail location to introduce the Under Armour brand and our world-class athletic performance products to athletes in India. “As a nation with a long, rich history in the sport and an accelerating focus on health and wellness, we look forward to building a strong foundation for our brand in India and driving our ability to achieve even greater long-term, international growth,” said Plank.

“As a part of the Under Armour family, I’m excited to be here as we continue to push our mission to support athletes around the world in their training journeys. I work out every day for me to be me, and I’m encouraged to hear that physical activity is on the rise here in India,” said Michael Phelps.

The 1,900 square foot Under Armour store is located at DLF Promenade Mall in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Employing some of the world’s best performance materials, cushioning and body temperature management innovations, Under Armour’s products are engineered to help athletes perform better. With dedicated, sport-specific sections for various athletic activities including training, running, basketball and golf, a premium, compelling and brand-forward shopping experience awaits consumers.
