GEC Watch: Star Plus climbs to second spot in U+R market for Week 49

Star Plus moved to the second spot in the U+R market while it continued to rule the urban markets in Week 49 of BARC’s television ratings. Zee Anmol led the combined U+R and Rural markets. Star Plus registered a growth in the number of Impressions in all three markets.

Top channels in U+R market

According to BARC data, India HSM (Urban+Rural): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, for Week 49 (December 1-December 7) of 2018, Zee Anmol at the No.1 position clocked 847.007 million Impressions (last week 873.218 million Impressions). Star Plus moved to the second spot with 745.149 million Impressions (last week 732.873 million Impressions). Star Bharat took the third rank, recording 740.960 million Impressions (last week 734.742 million Impressions). Zee TV dropped to No. 4 position and garnered 738.489 million Impressions (last week 761.001 million Impressions). Star Utsav with 630.978 million Impressions (last week 618.101 million Impressions) moved to fifth spot, followed by Colors with 552.186 million Impressions (last week 565.229 million Impressions). Sony Pal dropped to seventh rank with 538.862 million Impressions (last week 621.204 million Impressions) while Sony Entertainment Television with 523.452 million Impressions (last week 578.150 million Impressions) took the eighth rank.

Dangal TV with 457.151 million Impressions (last week 455.426 million Impressions) and Sony Sab with 399.752 million Impressions (last week 392.154 million Impressions) maintained the No.9 and No.10 ranks.

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya stayed at the top spot, logging 13.938 million Impressions (last week 14.881 million Impressions). Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya took the second spot with 13.192 million Impressions (last week12.691 million Impressions) while Colors’ Naagin 3 climbed to the third position and clocked 12.573 million Impressions (last week 12.325 million Impressions). Star Bharat’s Radhakrishn moved up to the fourth rank and registered 12.499 million Impressions (last week 11.202 million Impressions). Kumkum Bhagya dropped to fifth rank with 12.106 million Impressions (last week 12.327 million Impressions).

Top channels in Urban market

In Week 47, Urban market was ruled by Star Plus. The channel stayed at the No. 1 position, garnering 507.578 million Impressions (last week 507.819 million Impressions).  Zee TV maintained the No. 2 position, registering 444.940 million Impressions (last week 468.419 million Impressions) followed by Sony Entertainment Television at the No. 3 position, registering 380.532 million impressions (last week 432.072 million Impressions).  The list didn’t witness much change as Colors with 373.949 million Impressions (last week 384.395 Impressions) and Star Bharat with 370.102 million Impressions (last week 366.165 Impressions) stayed at No.4 and No.5 positions. Sony SAB at No.6 registered 301.108 million Impressions (last week 297.281 million Impressions) and Star Utsav clocked 196.608 million Impressions (last week194.690 million Impressions) at seventh position. It was followed by Zee Anmol at eighth position with 158.387 million Impressions (last week 164.478 million Impressions), Sony Pal at ninth rank with 158.203 million Impressions (last week 171.063 million Impressions), and &TV at No.10 with 119.856 million Impressions (last week 119.320 million Impressions).

Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya grabbed No. 1 spot with 8.229 million Impressions (last week 8.013 million Impressions). Colors’ Naagin 3 dropped to second rank and registered 8.071 million Impressions (last week 8.110 million Impressions). Star Plus’ Kulfi Kumar Bajewala jumped to third rank and clocked 7.505 million Impressions (last week 7.267 million Impressions). Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stayed at the fourth spot with 7.452 million Impressions (last week 7.586 million Impressions). Star Bharat’s Radhakrishn entered the list at the fifth spot with 6.683 million Impressions.

Top channels in Rural market

Zee Anmol remained at No. 1 position and clocked 688.621 million Impressions (last week 708.740 million Impressions). Star Utsav reclaimed the second spot with 434.369 million Impressions (last week 423.411 million Impressions) whereas Sony Pal dropped to third with 380.659 million Impressions (last week 450.141 million Impressions). Star Bharat and Dangal TV remained at fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Star Bharat garnered 370.858 million Impressions (last week 368.578 million Impressions while Dangal TV clocked 355.747 million Impressions (last week 356.311 million Impressions). At No. 6, Zee TV logged 293.550 million Impressions (last week 292.582 million Impressions) whereas Rishtey slipped to seventh with 283.857 million Impressions (last week 270.226 million Impressions). Star Plus moved to the eighth position and logged 237.571 million Impressions (last week 225.054 million Impressions). It was followed by Big Magic at the ninth position, clocking 221.374 (last week 232.905 million Impressions). Colors at No. 10 position clocked 178.237 (last week 180.834 million Impressions).

Top shows in Rural market

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya remained at No.1 position and registered 11.607 million Impressions (last week 12.469 million Impressions). Zee Anmol’s Mehak stayed at No. 2 position, clocking 8.371 million Impressions (last week 8.518 million Impressions). Dangal TV’s Ramayan remained at third spot and registered 7.292 million Impressions (last week 7.574 million Impressions). Zee Anmol’s Ek Main Aur Ek Tu entered the top list and secured No. 4 position, registering 7.280 million Impressions (last week 7.150 million Impressions). Sony Pal’s Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma dropped to fifth position and clocked 6.618 million Impressions (last week 7.102 million Impressions).
