Amit Akali, Chief Creative Officer, Medulla Communications, and Alok Saini, Creative Director, McCann Health India, are two Indians on the 2018 Clio Health Jury.
While Akali as an Executive Juror will be judging the Partnerships & Collaborations, Design, Innovation & Integration categories, Saini is on the Technique Jury.
The judging will take place in NYC in November.
Akali has over 20 years of mainline experience across agencies like Ogilvy, last as Creative Head, Grey India and member, Grey Global Creative Council.
He has won three Grand Prix Campaign of the year Abby (Indian) awards among over 550 national and international awards (Cannes, One show, Media Spikes, Clio, D&AD), including over 50 Cannes shortlists and Lions.
Akali believes the future of advertising is in integration. Hence he took his mainline experience to healthcare and digital, joining Medulla as CCO and founding its sister agency ‘What’s Your Problem’ — a digital focused, integrated agency.
Under his creative leadership, Medulla became the Cannes Healthcare Agency of the year, 2016 — India’s first ever Agency of the year at Cannes and the only agency to be in the top three agencies tally at Cannes, three years in a row. His haul for 2016 includes eight Cannes Lions and seven Clios with ‘Last Words’ becoming India’s most-rewarded campaigns internationally. While 2017 saw the ‘Last Laugh’ campaign, winning big at Cannes, Media Spikes, London International, along with a Clio Grand.
Akali has been on numerous juries: Cannes, London International, One Show, along with being Jury President at Spikes Asia Healthcare (2017).

Saini has more than a decade of experience in healthcare, lifestyle, education and corporate communication categories.
The youngest creative director at McCann Health India, he has successfully led a team of talented professionals to industry recognised work on brands like Nestle Nutrition, Nestle Start Healthy Stay Healthy, Kwality, Omron, GSK, Healthcare at Home and Dabur India among others. He has also worked at McCann Torre Lazur’s London office for a year. He is one of the most-awarded healthcare creatives in India, including honours from Clios, Effies, IPA Best of Health, Rx Club, Globals, Abbys and other award shows.
With an equal affinity for arts and science, he enjoys working on challenging assignments, getting to the core of scientific problems and coming up with creative solutions for these. A drug molecule for him is as exciting as a piece of poetry — both having the potential to enrich lives.
For Saini, work is not only a means for materialistic ends but a source of emotional fulfilment as well. Happiest to be in the office on Monday mornings, he believes in the power of healthcare campaigns to bring about a positive difference in the lives they touch.
