Blood is not needed only in times of large-scale tragedies or epidemics. On the contrary, it is needed every day by many undergoing various treatments, road accidents and so on. Every time you donate blood, you save not one but three lives. So, do your bit and donate blood now.
Then why a desperate Facebook post or an urgent WhatsApp text seeking blood from a close friend or relative is the only time we are triggered into action? It could be for anyone!
On June 14, World Blood Donor Day, MTV has created a quirky film to captivate the youth’s attention citing reality through humour. The video showcases how a young boy enjoys flaunting his noble deed of donating blood for constant attention till someone gives him a reality check that it’s “No big deal to donate blood.” The aim of this film is to convey that it’s okay to brag about your acts but first, focus on performing them right rather than seeking attention.
Commenting on the initiative, Navin Shenoy, Head Marketing, Youth Entertainment, Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd., said, “We at MTV believe that the youth of this nation can bring about a sea of positive change. Every year, approximately five crore units of blood are required but only 2.5 crore units of blood are available. Every minute there is someone who is in need of blood and hence we are trying to get the banks equipped to help more people in need. The video is created keeping in mind our audiences; it is light hearted, humorous and yet conveys our message of being responsible without being preachy.”
MTV suggests, “Donate karo. Phir show off karo” (act and not parade)
