Radio One's travel show 'Get some Sun' is back with season 5

‘Get some Sun’ the longest running travel show on Indian Radio entered its fifth year with season 5. The show has had celebrity anchor Ranveer Singh through the years and he gives travel advice in the 7 cities that Radio One operates and encourages people to ‘chase the sun’ all over the world.

The show conducts the ‘sun-chaser entrance test’ through a separate digital app on the Get Some Sun Facebook page that enables listeners of Radio One to be eligible to visit some of the best global travel destinations – free.

Almost 18 Radio One RJs in all 7 cities engage with listeners on this one of a kind travel show that runs across the year to create a special hunger in the global travel lover. To encourage local travel, hosts also enable special ‘adventure’ stories of local destinations that listeners have visited thereby keeping the travel lover hooked on both ‘short’ and long ‘travel’ options.

The previous editions of the show through the last 5 years have enabled listener engagement not only to fabulous destinations like all the ‘global wonders of the world’ but also partnered with tourism boards of many countries to help Indians better understand global destinations they must visit as part of their global travel calendar. The fan following for this show on the exclusive Radio One Get Some Sun FB page is now at 1,26,000 upscale fans.

The show’s title sponsor through the last 3 years has been ICICI Lombard General Insurance where the integration on travel insurance requirements is seamless in the travel targeted content.

"It has been a fabulous association for us at ICICI Lombard with 94.3 Radio One India in all 7 cities. We are the Title Sponsors for the “Get Some Sun” program. Over the last many years, this travel focused program has helped us spread awareness about our travel insurance offering to a very relevant audience all over India, said Sanjeev Mantri, Executive Director, ICICI Lombard General Insurance.

Show sponsors of the current season 5 also include Ezeego1, Cars24 & Bahrain tourism. Past sponsors of the earlier seasons of the show include Maruti Suzuki, Turkish airlines, Macau tourism, Air Arabia, Beer Café, BookMyShow, BreakBounce, Kuoni travels & Mercury Travels to name a few.

Anil Machado,  Chief Content officer at 94.3 Radio One, said, “We realized the opportunity 5 years ago to engage our tribe of upscale listeners with superlative content that interfaces with their real lives and global travel is a huge interest for the Radio One listener. This is a ‘higher travel exposure’ listener as compared to the listeners of mass radio stations. Our upscale listener/traveller wants to visit many global cities in his lifetime not to mention close by local destinations at a very high frequency of travel outside their city of residence. We call this loyal ‘travel gang’ of listeners ‘Sun-Chasers’. In 2013, we kicked off this radio traveller movement with a song by the in-house Radio One Band that made listeners notice the opportunity and sign up for Get Some Sun.”

Saurabh Sehgal, COO Operations of Radio One, said, “We innovate at the product level regularly to create opportunity to super engage our 5.9 million listeners (as per IRS 2017) on air and online and we thank our sponsors for realizing the strengths that Radio One offers with such well targeted and engaging content.”

As per the IRS 2017, 94.3 Radio one engages a total of 5.9 million upscale educated listeners in the 7 metro cities namely Delhi Mumbai Bangalore Pune Chennai Kolkota and Ahmedabad.
