Sony Entertainment Television has launched a new fiction show with the same cast, crew and plot of its recently ended controversial show Pehredaar Piya Ki. The new show is titled Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, and is produced by the same production house Shashi Sumeet Productions. It has the same character names too – Diya and Ratan. The lead protagonist is played by the same actor Tejaswi Prakash.
The show went on air on November 7 at 9pm slot and will run from Monday to Friday.
Pehredaar, which was launched on July 17 at 8.30 pm, garnered negative reviews on social media and after intervention from the BCCC, was moved from the prime time slot. Within three days after that, the last episode was aired on August 25 and the following episode on August 28 was abruptly stalled. The show had a storyline wherein an 18-year-old wife played the bodyguard to her nine-year old husband.
Coming back to Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, the only difference in the plot is that there are no children involved and no child marriage. Set in the similar royal canvas of Rajasthan, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is a finite story that will challenge the conventional perception of man being the protector of woman.
Ashish Golwalkar, Senior Creative Director, Sony Entertainment Television said, “Yeh Un dinon ki Baat hain has been receiving a lot of praises and after a successful launch, we are delighted to partner again with Shashi Sumeet this time to narrate a story set in the beautiful backdrop of Rajasthan. We strongly believe this gripping story of Diya and her sacrifice will definitely be liked by the audience.”
Sumeet Mittal, Founder and Director of Shashi Sumeet Productions, said, “We are grateful to all our patrons for supporting and believing in us. As promised, Shashi Sumeet Productions and Sony Entertainment Television will always partner to bring to you new and refreshing stories. Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya with its strong characters and concept will enthral the viewers. We are glad to witness immense anticipation and excitement for the show and look forward to entertaining the viewers.”
