McCann Health India, Delhi, won two Grand LIAs, along with seven other metals at the 32nd Annual London International Awards (LIA). The agency was named the Health and Wellness Agency of the Year and the Pharmaceutical Agency of the Year. The Health and Wellness jury awarded them a Grand LIA and three Gold LIAs. The Pharmaceuticals jury awarded one Grand LIA, three Gold and one Silver LIAs. They were also finalists in pharmaceutical craft.
McCann Health was named Global Health and Pharma Agency of the Year and Regional Health and Pharma Network for Asia.
The agency grabbed these awards for its campaign Immunity Charm for the Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan.
This was a record year for India, winning 16 Statues, including two Grand LIAs, nine Gold, one Silver and four Bronze Statues, won by Leo Burnett and Medulla, alongside McCann. Leo Burnett won two Bronze LIAs for its campaign Roads That Honk, while Medulla grabbed a Bronze for a Social Responsibility/Awareness campaign for Palliative Care titled âLast Laughâ.
LIA shows in advertising, digital, technology driven work, health and pharma and branded entertainment announced the winners. The judging was held at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, over a 10-day period. The Juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium, ensuring all the work was judged equally.
LIAâs Of The Year Awards are calculated based on a point system on the winning work chosen by the Juries across all media. The network, agency, production company, post-production company, music and sound company, radio and audio company and health and pharmaceutical companies that attains the highest score based on any entry that wins a Statue or becomes a finalist is eligible to win LIA Of The Year.
2017 is the inaugural year for LIAâs Regional Of The Year Awards. Just like the Global Of The Year Awards, the Regional Of The Year Awards are awarded based on a point system in the following regions: Australia and New Zealand, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East and Africa.
âEvery award show is a learning experience and has its own USP. At LIA, I would say the focus was the jury and the judging process. The focus was the work. This being the first year of the LIA Healthcare awards, the number of entries was fewer. We actually kept aside double the normal time for judging. Every piece was soaked in and discussed,â stated Amit Akali, Chief Creative Officer at Medulla Communications, Mumbai.
He further added, âThe other difference was that there was no restriction on work done for charity winning a Grand LIA and hence the âImmunity Charmâ unanimously and deservedly won its first âPharmaâ Grand. For me, this has been the piece of the year, solving a real world problem for both healthcare professionals and consumers. While the project was carried out in Afghanistan, it could well have been executed in any under-developed or developing country, where lack of health infrastructure makes people depend on faith and rituals for good health. What stood out for me was the simplicity of the idea. In this era of technology, VR and AI â people forget EQ (Emotional Quotient) and I count this âanalog wearableâ to be more innovative than any piece of tech Iâve seen this year. A Grand LIA should inspire and show the way to clients and advertising professionals. And while it was done for a charity, it very well could have been done for any vaccine manufacturer. Thus I believe that this is the kind of problem solving that we as an Industry should and would be doing in the future.â
