GEC Watch: Colors returns to the top in Urban markets

Colors returned to rule the roost in the urban markets in In Week 43 of 2017 (October 21-27), while it remained at No. 5 U+R. Zee TV slipped one positions each in Urban and U+R markets to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Zee Anmol remained the most watched channel in the U+R and rural markets among GECs. Star Bharat rose to No. 2 position in U+R markets on the basis of significant growth in its viewership in Urban markets.

Star Plus continued to be at No. 4 in Urban and No. 7 in combined markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 43 of 2017 (October 21-27) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained on the top position in the combined markets recording viewership of 680.454 million (last week 766.095 million) Impressions. Star Bharat climbed to No. 2 with 658.655 million (last week 598.433 million) Impressions. Zee TV is at No. 3 with 651.461 million (last week 704.641 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 4 with 590.647 million (last week 579.884 million) Impressions. Colorstoo remained at No. 5 with 585.745 million (last week 544.445 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 6 with 486.356 million (last week 538.416 million) Impressions. Star Plus remained at No. 7 with 478.712 million (last week 463.334 million) Impressions. Rishteyclimbed to No. 8 with 428.369 million (last week 343.276 million) Impressions. Sony SAB slipped to ninth position with 404.768 million (last week 371.898 million) Impressions. STAR Utsav at No. 10 this week garnered 340.404 million (last week 323.148 million) Impressions.

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s original fiction Kumkum Bhagyaand its spin off Kundali Bhagya lead the flock at No. 1 and 2 spots with 12.192 million (last week 10.533 million) and 11.710 million (last week 11.639 million) Impressions, respectively. The ODI between India and New Zealand on DD National grabbed the third spot garnering 8.438 million Impressions. Sony TV’s Kaun Banega Crorepati came up at No. 4 with 8.394 million Impressions (last week 8.270 million). Sony Pal’s Balveer was t No. 5 with 8.178 million Impressions.

Colorscame up to lead the flock of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) in the urban markets, garnering 410.356 million (last week 374.736 million) Impressions. Zee TV was ranked as the second most watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets clocking 377.886 million (last week 404.097 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television slipped to third spot with 354.255 million (last week 387.522 million) Impressions. Star Plus stayed put at No. 4 in the urban markets with 324.428 million (last week 312.769 million) Impressions. Sony Sab remained at No. 5 with 301.854 million (last week 274.819 million) Impressions. Star Bharat was at No. 6 with 299.002 million (last week 266.899 million) Impressions. Star Utsav came in next at No. 6 in rural markets garnering 260.020 million (last week 242.125 million) Impressions. DD National entered the list at No. 7 with 224.594 million Impressions.
