Sunil Kumar Gupta, Principal Advisor (Broadcast and Telecom) at the Telecom regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), has been elevated as the Secretary of the regulatory body. He has been quite well-known in the industry circles, including broadcasters, distributors and media. He is replacing Sudhir Gupta as secretary after his retirement on July 31.
SK Gupta started his career with the Department of Telecom Communications after completing his Indian telecom services. Over the last decade, he has been involved in all the aspects of TRAI, including broadband, broadcasting, radio, telecom, IPTV and many other issues. He has a hands-on experience on everything that comes under TRAI purview.
SK Gupta has been involved and played a vital role in many industry bodies, including South Asian Telecom regulatory Council as a member Internet Governance Working Group, ipv6 Focus Group and has been active in all the initiatives taken up under TRAI.
