GEC Watch: Colors tops urban market; Zee Anmol leads the U+R and rural markets

Colors’ reality show Fear Factor fares at the top in the urban markets as Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs slipped by a spot

Colors was the most watched Hindi GEC in the urban markets, though the gap between Colors and Star Plus was that of mere five million. The two channels were about six million Impressions apart in the combined U+R markets, as per the viewership data of Week 33 (August 12-18). As per BARC India data, Zee Anmol is still the leading Hindi GEC in the U+R and rural markets.

Colors’ reality show Fear Factor is doing wonders for the channel ranking at the top in the urban markets, as Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs slipped by a spot. Star Plus has no show to be listed in the five most watched shows’ list in all three markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 33 (August 12-18) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol and the elder sister channel Zee TV remained on the top two positions in the combined markets by garnering 671.478 million Impressions and 628.459 million Impressions, respectively. Colors climbed back to No. 3 to garner 603.601 million Impressions. Star Plus fell to No. 4 with 597.354 million Impressions, with a gap of mere six million from Colors. Sony Pal stayed put at No. 5 with 551.597 million Impressions, followed by Rishtey garnering 515.871 million Impressions, to stand at No. 6. Sony SAB stayed at No. 7 with 396.881 million Impressions, while Sony Entertainment Television garnered 387.798 million Impressions, at No. 8. Life OK and Star Utsav continued to trail at No. 9 and 10 with 336.765 million Impressions and 313.710 million Impressions, respectively.

Top shows in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs topped the flock with 11.317 million Impressions. Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi came up at No. 2 clocking 10.575 million Impressions. Zee TV’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya stood at No. 3 in the top shows’ list in the combined markets with 10.096 million Impressions. Kumkum Bhagya followed next with 9.928 million Impressions, while Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with 8.333 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Colors climbed to No. 1 again, overtaking Star Plus by garnering 414.753 million Impressions, with a gap of merely five million Impressions. Star Plus slipped to the second spot garnering 409.961 million Impressions. Zee TV stayed at No. 3 position with 379.772 million Impressions. Sony SAB climbed to No. 4 with 288.468 million Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television that too stayed at No. 5 with 280.912 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 215.349 million Impressions. &TV stayed put at No. 7 with 164.278 million Impressions. Sony Pal slipped back to No. 8 with 156.309 million Impressions. Zee Anmol stayed put at No. 9 position in urban markets with 145.461 million Impressions. Rishtey trailed at No. 10 with 133.455 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Colors’ Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi climbed on top with 7.213 million Impressions, followed by Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs went to No. 2 in Week 33 with 7.060 million Impressions. At No. 5, Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah clocked 5.943 million Impressions to climb to No. 3. Zee TV’s spin off fiction Kundali Bhagya and the original show Kumkum Bhagya ranked No. 4 and 5 gathering 5.854 million Impressions and 5.827 to come up at No. 4.,

 

Top channels in Rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 526.017 million Impressions, while Sony Pal climbed on to No. 2 in rural markets with 395.287 million Impressions. Rishtey slipped to No. 3 garnering 382.416 million Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 4 with 248.686 million Impressions. Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 238.426 million Impressions, followed by its elder sibling Big Magic that climbed by a spot to reach No. 6 with 191.008 million Impressions. Colors came in next with 188.848 million Impressions. Star Plus slipped to No. 8 with 187.393 million Impressions. Life OK and Sony Entertainment Television trailed at No. 9 and No. 10 with 121.415 million Impressions and 108.412 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja remained the most watched show in the rural markets with 6.275 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Kaala Teeka came in second with 5.223 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood next, garnering 5.216 million Impressions and 5.161 million Impressions, respectively. Zee Anmol’s Tashan-e-Ishq was listed last with 4.396 million Impressions, respectively.
