Publicis, BBDO win Gold at 2017 APAC Effie Awards

Eight Indian agencies won 16 metals at the Asia Pacific awards including two Gold, eight Silver and six Bronze

Publicis, BBDO win Gold at 2017 APAC Effie Awards

Winners of the APAC Effie Awards 2017 were announced at the Awards Gala last Friday at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, celebrating Asia Pacific’s most effective marketing campaigns. The Awards Gala, attended by some 200 industry professionals, presented a total 71 Effies – 1 Grand Effie, 15 Gold, 21 Silver and 34 Bronze. Australia emerged as the strongest market in the region on the effectiveness stage this year, contributing the highest number of metal winners last night. Following in the ranking are India and New Zealand.

Out of the total 16 metals won by eight Indian agencies, Publicis Communications and BBDO India won a Gold each. Publicis Communications won a Gold for the campaign ‘The Giant Demo of Strength’ for Ambuja Cements under the category Other Products and Services. BBDO India’s ‘Dads #ShareTheLoad’ for P&G India’s product Ariel grabbed a Gold (category: Positive Change Social – Brands) and a Silver (category: Social Media Marketing) too.

Ogilvy and Mather India won four awards, including a Silver for the campaign ‘The Joy Exchange’ (for The Akanksha Foundation) under the category Sustained Success and three Bronze for ‘Jhatka Mana Hai (No More Jerks)’ for Bajaj Auto in the category Automotive, ‘Winning the 4G Race Without 4G’ for Vodafone India under the category IT /Telco and ‘Taste of Togetherness’ for HUL under the category Sustained Success.

Other agencies that won big at the awards include TLG India winning three Silver for their work for Bajaj Auto - campaign: Bajaj V - The Nation's Bike (category: Automotive), campaign: Experience Pride with Nation's Bike (category: Brand Experience – Products) and Hero of Category vs Heroes of India (category: David vs Goliath).

MullenLowe Lintas Group also grabbed three metals (two Silver and a Bronze). TBWA India, McCann Worldgroup India and Medulla Communications each won one metal.

Brewtroleum by DB Breweries and Colenso BBDO took home the highly coveted Grand Effie. The same case has also won three Gold and one Silver.

Four Special Awards were presented on the night. Clemenger BBDO was named the APAC Effie 2017 Agency of the Year, bagging 12 metals. On the network level, BBDO Worldwide took the lead, with a total haul of 29 metal awards, including the Grand Effie, followed by Ogilvy and Mather and MullenLowe Group coming in the second and third position respectively.
