News18 India and CNN-News18 have lined up special programmes to cover the upcoming assembly elections in the five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

To highlight the ground realities in the states going to polls in the biggest political fight of 2017, News18 India has lined up an array of programming under the generic branding of 'Sabse Bada Dangal'. On CNN-News18, the programming will go under the name 'Battle for the States'.

News18 India will air a variety of shows such as daily election bulletins, exclusive interviews with political leaders, special shows like 'Chaupals', an on-ground show that will travel to key cities in the poll-bound states to capture the pulse of the voters there and 'Hasya Kavi Sammelan' with renowned Hindi satirists and poets will capture the twists and turns of the electoral dangal in a unique way.

On the other hand, CNN-News18 will air special shows such as 'Campaign Trail' in which a team of journalists will focus on prominent leaders as they go about campaigning. 'Battle for the States' will be a half-hour daily bulletin that will have stories and latest updates on Uttar Pradesh and Punjab elections. The series 'Reporters' Project' will assess ground realities, pertinent issues and voter sentiments that are defining the political discourse and alignments in the states going to the polls. Through 'Newsmaker Interviews', the channel will speak to newsmakers from poll-bound states. In the programme 'Eye on Elections: Punjab and UP', Bhupendra Chaubey will host a series of special shows from ground zero in UP and Punjab. These will be audience-based shows featuring senior local leaders debating pertinent election issues of the state/region.

Both News18 India and CNN-News18 will also have more extensive programming that will include Poll of Polls and special day-long programming on all Polling Days and Counting Day. 'Poll of Polls' will analyse data from exit polls in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The programming will feature eminent political and poll analysts. On Polling days, there will be live on-ground coverage on voter turnout and other important events related to the voting process. On Counting Day, there will be full day programming to offer a combination of live coverage, real-time updates and in-depth analysis of results with experts.
