GEC Watch: Colors back on top in U+R; Star Plus retains Urban

Rishtey continues to lead the Rural market. Sansui Colors Stardust Awards ranks No. 5 in the top shows’ list in Urban market

In Week 2 (January 7-13) of BARC India data, Colors ruled the combined U+R markets list while Star Plus and Rishtey retained leaderships in the urban and rural markets, respectively. All the channels in the Hindi GEC genre witnessed decline in viewership this week.

Sansui Colors Stardust Awards ranked No. 5 in the top shows’ list in Urban market. Star Utsav has gained quite significant numbers to climb the ranking ladders in the combined market and rural market. The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony Entertainment Television too entered the top shows’ list in the U+R and urban markets.

Top channels in U+R markets

Despite drop in numbers, Colors climbed back on the top position with 667.949 million Impressions, followed by Star Plus which slipped to No. 2 with 665.560 million Impressions. Rishtey stayed at No. 3 by recording 453.703 million Impressions. Zee TV was at No. 4 with 424.762 million Impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television which garnered 415.562 million Impressions.

Star Utsav climbed up to take the No. 6 position with 391.058 million Impressions. Sony SAB also stayed at its No. 7 spot with 361.523 million Impressions. Sony Pal slipped to the eighth spot by garnering 348.823 million Impressions, while Zee Anmolstayed at No. 9 with 341.131 million Impressions. Slipping by two spots, Life OK with 329.739 million Impressions.

Top programmes in U+R markets

Colors’ Naagin Season 2 stayed at the top of the list with 13.013 million Impressions, followed by Naagin on Rishtey which stood at No. 2, garnering 11.293 million Impressions, while Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya slipped to No. 3 with 11.159 million Impressions, marginally lower than Nagin. Colors’ other fiction property, Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, with 10.034 million Impressions was at No. 4. Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show grabbed the last spot with 9.415 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

There was no change in the pecking order of top channels in urban markets. Star Plus retained lead with 470.255 million Impressions followed by Colors at No. 2 with 468.745 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television stayed put at No. 3, clocking a total of 299.026 million Impressions, followed by Sony SAB with 261.690 million Impressions. Zee TV stood at No. 5 with 258.498 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 219.845 million Impressions. &TV was at No. 7 with 156.277 million Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 8 with 117.494 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 9 with 101.481 million Impressions followed by Star Utsav at No. 10 with 92.979 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Colors’ Naagin Season 2 retained the No. 1 spot with 8.414 million Impressions followed by the channel’s Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki with 7.054 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 3 with 6.888 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show stood at No. 4 with 6.886 million Impressions followed by Colors’ Sansui Colors Stardust Awards at No. 5 with 6.557 million Impressions.

Top channels in Rural markets

Rishtey remained at No. 1 with 336.209 million Impressions. Star Utsav too gained eyeballs to climb to No. 2 with 298.079 million Impressions while Zee Anmol climbed to No. 3 with 261.526 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 4 with 247.342 million Impressions. Colors took the fifth position with 199.204 million Impressions followed by Star Plus with 195.305 million Impressions. Zee TV stood at No. 7 with 166.264 million Impressions. Big Magic at No. 8 gained 126.881 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television climbed one spot to come at No. 9 and Life OK at No. 10 garnered 116.536 million Impressions and 109.894 million Impressions, respectively.

Top programmes in Rural markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Rishtey’s Naagin stood at No. 1 with 8.735 million Impressions while Color’s Naagin Season 2 followed with 4.599 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Balveer was at No. 3 with 4.384 million Impressions. Rishtey’s Udaan and Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya (6PM-7PM) stood at No. 4 and No. 5 with 4.293 million Impressions and 4.270 million Impressions, respectively.
