Jaideep Mahajan, National Creative Director, Rediffusion Y&R, was shifted from Delhi to the Mumbai office a few days ago to improve coordination and for better and smoother functioning of the agency.
Explaining the reason for Mahajan's relocation to Mumbai, Rahul Jauhari, Chief Creative Officer, Rediffusion Y&R, said, “I needed JD (Mahajan) to be closer to the centre of action. This will help him work closely with me on key accounts and projects across our offices. I believe we will be able to leverage his strengths better this way.”
Commenting on his shift to Mumbai, Mahajan said, “The corporate team sits here in Mumbai. It's a lot more convenient to sit centrally and manage work across offices with Rahul, Dhunji and Navonil all being available in the same office.”
Asked who will head the Delhi office after Mahajan's shift, Dhunji S Wadia, President, Rediffusion Y&R, said, “Pranav (ECD, North and West) will work closely with Suman Verma (Head of operations, Rediffusion Y&R North) and the Delhi team. He's already been working with the Delhi businesses and will continue to add his brilliance.”
Throwing some more light, Jauhari said, “Pranav continues in his role as before. Ananda, our creative head from Chennai, moves to Delhi to handle the creative at a local level. JD, as NCD, will continue to input on key Delhi businesses as and when required. The transition has been seamless, effortless.”
Now with Mahajan and Jauhari at the same base, it will help in the smooth functioning of the agency. They can work in better coordination now. Commenting on the roles both (NCD and CCO) will play from the same base office, Wadia said, “The entire Rediffusion Y&R way of working is collaborative. We are one team. Having said that the operations are very big and we try to divide work into manageable portions for individuals.”
The agency is not looking for anybody from outside to completely be responsible for the creative work in Delhi. The agency says it has enough talent inside and that it does not require anybody from outside to come and take care of Delhi creative operations. Jauhari added, “We are not looking for any Delhi head at present. There is enough talent and strength within the system to take charge of responsibilities, should they arise. Pranav continues as before. Ananda steps in.”
Mahajan had earlier been travelling to Mumbai often for work. Now the role is reversed, he will now be travelling often to Delhi for work from Mumbai. Mahajan said, “Mumbai has been really kind to me until now. It has some real great vibes and so has Rediffusion office too. My role remains the same. We are one big family and so the culture and environment remains the same across Rediffusion offices as well. Only we have more people here, which means more energy.”
Pranav Harihar Sharma is the Executive Creative Director for the North and West region, while Pramod Sharma is the ECD for the West region. Piyash Ghosh and Nilanjan Dasgupta take care of the East creative mandates and South's creative is headed by Ananda Ray.
Mahajan has over 18 years of experience in advertising and communication design. He has worked with the largest agencies as well as set up, started up and nurtured a brand new entrant in the market. He has led and inspired teams as large as 56 people, two countries, seven agencies and 100+ awards (national and international). Over his career span, he has worked with agencies such as McCann Erickson, Contract, Leo Burnett, JWT and Linen Lintas (Mullen Lintas).
